If there are ever any questions from parents about Coterie diapers, it’s NOT about if they’re any good. The questions about Coterie diapers are if they’re worth it.
And if they are worth it, then the question is, how can you save money on them while being able to bestow your child with the privilege of them?
In this review, I’m diving deep into Coterie: what they’re like, why they cost so much and also why they’re regarded as the best diaper on the planet. We’ll wrap up with ways you can save money on Coterie products, how get them on sale or at a discount and where to buy them.
Why is everyone talking about Coterie diapers?
Parents put Coterie diapers on a pedestal. Why? How did they become known as the “Rolls-Royce of diapers?”

Coterie diapers are, admittedly, different. Well, they’re for sure different from a lot of the cheap brands you’d find in my list of the best and worst diapers for your baby. They’re more on par with the most expensive diaper brands like Kudos diapers and Millie Moon.
Everyone’s talking about Coterie diapers because they’re like the gold standard of quality diapering. Even NY Mag introduced Millie Moon diapers as a “Coterie dupe!” And everyone wants to know just why Coterie diapers are so expensive, and if they’re worth it.

What I got
For the purpose of writing this article, I received 1 box of 6 sleeves of Coterie diapers in Size 4 (20-32 lbs). Each sleeve contains 25 diapers.
My shipment had a total of 150 diapers. This is supposed to last one month of diapering, according to the Coterie website.

The “Good to know”: I’ll note that different sizes of Coterie diapers are sent in different amounts of diapers for a full month count. Size 1 (8-12 lbs) will have 198 total diapers per box, based on a calculation of ~7 changes per day. Size 6 (35+ lbs), on the other hand, will have 108 total count per box, based on an estimate of ~4 changes per day. You can see the difference in the number of diapers you’d get based on your child’s size.

My experience with Coterie diapers
I first got my hands on Coterie diapers when my child was in size 1, back in the baby days. A friend’s child had outgrown size 1 diapers, and she had half a package to give to me, which was on brand with how I got a ton of my baby’s stuff for free early on.
My first thoughts were, “Wow, these diapers feel like T-shirts.” They were so thick, and soft, and of course, highly absorbent and plush. I couldn’t beleive the difference in how they felt when I compared them to Huggies and Luvs—the brands you can get at the supermarket, or Walmart.
What I learned fast was that Coterie diapers are super powerful at absorbing liquids, and when you have a baby who consumes only milk, every diaper has liquid. So, Coterie diapers were very helpful.

I also realized that they were probably best prioritized if I used them at nighttime. It’s too bad that I figured this out (when I had only a limited number of them in my “trial”) when I was almost done with the supply. But I vowed to do better next time.
The last thing to note is that Coterie diapers DO run small! Yes, your child will outgrow a Coterie size 1 diaper before they outgrow a Kirkland (Costco) size 1 diaper, and I can guarantee it.

As my toddler is currently 21 lbs, I feel good about having Size 4 (made for children 20-32 lbs, and I take these estimates with a grain of salt). This should last a while.
And I definintely plan to use them for overnights, when infant sleep is between 11 and 13 hours and a diaper with the thickness of a sweatshirt (really!) is what’s needed to feel as dry as possible for that long.
Benefits of Coterie diapers (my opinion)
A few things make Coterie diapers a strong product, from what I have seen.
The tabs are nice
The closure tabs on Coterie diapers are up a notch from other brands. If I’m comparing to Costco’s Kirkland diaper, Coterie puts Kirkland to shame.

Ribbed texture
I have not seen this texture on many other diapers. You can see the ribbed texture of the diaper surface. It’s like a winter sweater.

Height
They’re also taller than diapers from other brands in the same size. See this comparison with the DYPER Charcoal Enhanced Diaper (which comes out to roughly the same price as a Coterie diaper in any given size). My finding is that this makes Coterie a good choice for babies and toddlers who run “long” or “tall,” or have long torsos proportional to their body size!

The ruffles
The ruffles on the side (the ones you “tuck out” when changing a baby) are big, and the elastic is snug to the skin without being loose (compare to Costco diapers on this one).

Coterie diapers: the price
OK, so how much do they cost? This is actually a big question ever since Coterie bulked their product and made the diapers very subscription-forward. That means that it’s not possible to buy just one small package of 40 Coterie diapers, like you would with Huggies at your local drugstore or pharmacy.
There’s a bit more math to do. Let’s see the below, based on my Size 4 shipment of 6 packs in 1 box.
- A six-pack (six “sleeves”) of Coterie diapers in one big month-supply box costs around $90, give or take.
- Each package inside the box has 25 diapers. It’s a total of 150.
- This makes each diaper ($90/150) cost $0.60. (I’d say it’s one of the more expensive diapers on the market—it depends).
There are in fact ways to make the price of Coterie diapers come down. There are ways to get discounts, sales and deals on them. I’ll get into that at the end of the review.
Coterie organic ingredients and certifications
Now we’ll talk about why Coterie is so expensive. Part of the cost comes from what the Coterie diaper is made of. Coterie diapers are:
- Hypoallergenic
- Dermatologist-tested
- Cruelty-free
- Tested by third-parties and dermatologists in independent labs
- Made without added fragrances, dyes, phthalates, and parabens.
- Made with sustainable, plant-based materials wherever possible (without sacrificing performance)
If this sounds familiar to other upper-tier diaper brands, that’s because it is pretty similar. A lot of these claims sound like they’re on repeat to me, especially after all the time I have spent reading about DIAPERS.
Here are a few things that stand out to me about Coterie specifically, in addition to their transparency about their processes, with the info available on the website:
- Clinical HRIPT testing: this means clinical testing for allergenicity and sensitization
- Chemical compound testing: products are tested for harmful substances and Coterie continually updates their models according to changing regulations
- You can even visit transparent Coterie safety reports online.
Coterie materials and sustainability
Coterie has a section of their website devoted to Impact, and yes, I checked it out. I like to read about what the brands I review are doing in order to make a positive difference, as well as not harm our environment.
A note from me: Coterie is NOT a certified B-Corp. (This is a certification given to brands like DYPER baby products and Finisterre, an apparel company I reviewed, for being exceptional with environmental impact and transparency).
According to the Impact page of the website, Coterie is going above and beyond to develop safety and sustainability standards, with a “goal of a fully-sustainable diapering solution.” And to this end, Coterie sports certifications from the FSC, EWG and TUV-Austria. Their shipping packaging is fully recyclable.
Interestingly enough, Coterie has answered questions like why their diapers are NOT made of bamboo viscose and why their diapers are not certifiably “all-natural.” The answers are interesting.
Coterie diapers vs. other brands
I wrote in my roundup of the best, worst and cheapest diaper brands, I listed Coterie as a creme du la creme diaper that puts other diapers to shame, basically.
I’ve tried a lot of diaper brands. The ones that work best for truly containing leaks, blowouts and messes are Coterie, DYPER and Kudos. These well-made products do what they’re supposed to, without flaws in design or materials. You can see more about DYPER at my DYPER diapers review.

If you put a Coterie diaper (top of the barrel) up next to a diaper from Luvs (bottom of the barrel, in my opinion), the difference is laughable. It’s like taking a purse from H&M and comparing it to Chanel. The difference is so clear in the quality and the ingredients!

When people want to know, “Do babies cost a lot of money?” the answer depends on how much you spend on your child. If you spend your diaper funds on Coterie, you’ll be getting a quality product you feel good about, rather than a crappy diaper that rips, tears, has absorbent “goo” coming out (Amazon diapers) or feels like paper (Luvs).

Where to buy Coterie diapers
Unlike Pampers, Huggies and other run-of-the-mill big-box brands you’d find “literally everywhere,” Coterie is more discreet. You can’t typically get Coterie at your local drugstore, pharmacy or supermarket. And you can’t even get Coterie everywhere online.
Update to this article: You CAN get Coterie diapers at Whole Foods supermarkets, even sold by a single sleeve/package of the minimum amount (i.e. 31 diapers in size 2, 28 diapers in size 3, 25 diapers in size 4, 22 diapers in size 5, etc.). The price is fair, too! It’s just a dab more than if you were to price out the price per sleeve in your monthly box.
A few places I’ve found after sleuthing, for getting Coterie products, are:
- Coterie’s website
- The Coterie Amazon Store
- Pottery Barn Kids website (I’m serious!)
How to buy Coterie diapers without a subscription
Without a subscription, you can try getting Coterie on Amazon. You’re no longer able to only buy one sleeve or one package of diapers, like you normally would with Huggies or Pampers, though. You are cornered into buying only a month’s worth of diapers, plus wipes.
As you see below, I’m able to add this to my cart on Amazon in this exact quantity, and the product bundle is called: “Coterie Baby Diapers + Wipes Baby Kit, Size 1 (99 Count) Size Newborn (93 Count) 8 Wipe Packs (448 Count).”
This is the smallest denomination of Coterie products available, so if you want to buy Coterie, be prepared to get a month’s worth of both diapers and wipes together (it is the cost-saving model, though). You don’t need to subscribe.

Also, if you purchase at Pottery Barn Kids, you can currently get a 6-pack (1-month supply) of diapers without tacking on wipes. No subscription is required.
How to get Coterie on sale or at a discount (for cheap!)
There isn’t really a major secret about how to get the market’s most expensive diapers for cheap. You have a few options that I’ve found, and all of these would work to get a deal on Coterie diapers.
- Subscribe with a diaper plan: You can get a 10% discount off every Auto-Renew (subscription) order at the Coterie website
- Save on shipping: You can save on ship fees and get free shipping at the Coterie website when you bundle (like the Diaper + Wipe bundle)
- Discount code: Use the Coterie discount code “HALFHALFHOME” at checkout for 15% off (Coterie website only) new customer subscription purchases with a min. spend of $40.
- Overnight use only: Do what I do, and choose to use Coterie as an overnight diaper when your child is older (sleeping full nights), and use lighter/cheaper diapers for daytime. This way, you can get Coterie diapers and make them last longer, using them for when they’re the most valuable (nighttime).
- Facebook Marketplace or Craigslist: this is not a drill! Because of the cost of Coterie diapers, parents will sometimes sell unused Coterie diapers online (for pickup locally) if their child suddenly outgrew them and they have unopened boxes or packages.
- Registry: My very last idea is to put them as a “must-have” item when you’re developing your baby registry essentials and have someone gift you a month of them 😊.
These are all the options! It’s up to you which one you’ll pick (pick a few!).
Are they worth it!?
I think Coterie diapers are worth it if you can get them at a discount, like with all the methods I list above. In that way, you can lower your blood pressure a little bit about blowouts overnight for your infant or toddler, and breathe easy that they’re wearing a product that has been approved as safe for babies.
I think that if you can get Coterie diapers at a discount and bring that cost-per-diaper down, you could even be paying as much per single diaper as for diapers from other brands if you were to buy them in small packages when pricing is not as optimal.
This review is not sponsored, but I would like to thank Coterie for sending me a box of the brand’s diapers in order to be refreshed about the product for this review. All thoughts are my own and are supported by facts on the Coterie website.
