Quince Men’s Button Down Shirts Review: As Good as it Looks Online?
I tried Quince’s button down shirts for men to see if they were as great as the rumors say they are. Did Quince’s men styles work out for me? Read into this thorough review.

I’ve been familiar with Quince for quite some time. Our first Quince experience was with the best-selling hard shell suitcase that we took on a big trip to Colombia, and our subsequent experiences with the brand were in a lot of the home products we’ve used in our new house.
But what about the clothes for men?
It seems like Quince’s women’s line gets all the attention, and I didn’t see all too many reviews of Quince’s men’s line. All I’d heard was from one guy we know that he liked the men’s athleisure and casual clothes from Quince, and they were so affordable.
In this review, I’ll walk you through my first men’s clothes from Quince—why I wanted them, how I decided what to get and how it turned out. You can see if Quince’s men’s collection is right for you.
Quince makes men’s clothing?
Yes, you heard right: the same brand that makes popular women’s cashmere, bags, linen dresses and dresses has an entire men’s line of on-trend apparel as well.
What I like about Quince’s collection for men is that it makes shopping really easy, especially if you don’t enjoy shopping (like me).
Quince makes loads of menswear products, from shirts, polos and tees to activewear, loungewear, suits (I know, right?) and outerwear. Everything is affordable, reasonably-priced, impressive in quality and frankly, really good-looking.
You can easily see the items that are the best-sellers in Quince’s men’s line.
Why I chose Quince for my shopping
This year, I had not one, but two, business trips. This is rare for me. I mostly enjoy the benefits of working from home from my couch, wearing athletic shorts, a crew-neck sweatshirt and a T-shirt. Going on a business trip is a big deal for me.
I had some details regarding a requested dress code for the trip. It was a step up from business casual, so I needed to look decent, professional and trimmed-up.
Shopping for men’s business casual stuff needs is confusing, and the amount of brands to choose from is overwhelming. I also wanted to see what I could do with the smallest budget possible, knowing that these types of trips are only once every few years for me.
I started looking at Quince, and realized they basically make everything in men’s apparel. I got into perusing the button-down shirts and considered this a good place to start.
What I got
I chose these four Quince men’s dress shirts in different fabrics so that I could find the perfect ones for my trip purposes, and wear the other ones another time.
- Organic Cotton Stretch Twill Dress Shirt (M / Light Grey)
- 100% European Linen Long Sleeve Pocket Shirt (M / Deep Navy)
- Organic Cotton Stretch Poplin Shirt (M / Light Grey)
- 100% Organic Cotton Oxford Shirt (M / Light Blue)
Which shirts I wound up packing
I took the Organic Cotton Stretch Poplin Shirt and the Organic Cotton Oxford Shirt with me for the trip. They were both appropriate for the business attire requirements and they went with my army green Mott & Bow chinos and my classic gray chino-style dress pants from Bluffworks.
The Organic Cotton Stretch Twill Dress Shirt was a bit more of an upscale and dressy shirt that I plan to wear with dress pants for formal occasions, like weddings. And the European Linen Long Sleeve Pocket Shirt actually felt too casual for me, because I pictured it looking its best with jeans or khakis.
A run-down of each Quince dress shirt
I tried four of the many current Quince dress shirt styles for men. I thought each of these would be versatile and timeless. Here are some details of each, so you can see which might work best for you.
Organic Cotton Stretch Twill Dress Shirt
How it feels
It’s the softest of the bunch and has more of a ever-so-slight satiny sheen than I would’ve expected. Because of the very slight shine, it’s a dress shirt for me. This feels too fancy to wear to the office.
How it fits
It fits great, honestly. My other dress shirts have had issues in the length or in the arms, but this one fits just right (keep in mind I’m built athletically).
When to wear it
To me, this is a shirt to wear with a suit. It’s definitely going to be a “tuck it in” shirt for me. The bottoms I’ll pair it with are either business casual chinos, slacks or suit pants. It’s the most “upscale” shirt of this bunch.
100% European Linen Long Sleeve Pocket Shirt
How it feels
It feels like high-quality linen, lightweight and breathable like the other linen products I’ve experienced from Quince (and actually, those have been our Quince linen napkins and Quince linen placemats, for the dining room).
How it fits
It fits with a bit more of a relaxed fit than the Cotton Twill shirt, and it’s meant to be worn totally tucked-out. It fits nicely in the dimensions like shoulders and armpits.
When to wear it
I could wear this to the office on any day of the week because my office is casual. I’d also wear it to an outing with friends in the evening, like at a bar or a small party.
Organic Cotton Stretch Poplin Shirt
How it feels
This is by far the lightest-weight of the bunch and it’s a true poplin: crisp and cotton-y, and nearly weightless. It feels like it would fold up very small for packing for a summer trip when I need a dress shirt. I’d just have to remember to iron it.
How it fits
It has a trim fit, and I like how it feels in the arms and body. Chances are that I’m going to roll up the sleeves anyway.
When to wear it
I consider this like a business casual shirt that I could put a blazer over. I could also get away with wearing it to a rehearsal dinner at a wedding weekend away. Lastly, it would be fine to wear with chinos or dark jeans and be office-ready in the city.
100% Organic Cotton Oxford Shirt
How it feels
It feels like a good quality cotton shirt that’ll last me quite a few years. It’s 100% cotton and pretty soft, making it really versatile.
How it fits
In all honesty, it’s the same—if not better—great fit that I have from my Oxford shirt from UNTUCKit (and those are $100+). My UNTUCKit shirt is my benchmark for a shirt that I call a “really good fit,” and the Quince Cotton Oxford is virtually the same, feeling naturally flattering the first time.
When to wear it
I’ll be using this as one of my new shirts to pair with my navy blue suit. I took this shirt on my trip, and wore it with dark green chinos, tucked in (although you’ll see the model on the product page wearing it “tucked out.”). I also wear Cotton Oxford button-downs with dark jeans for a nice family outing, or a date.
Would I recommend them?
At the current price of all these shirts, it’s what I call a no-brainer: these prices still have us saying “wow.” If you compare to Faherty Brand’s shirts, at $150+ for a linen button-down, Quince is selling the same thing, just at more than 70% savings.
Compare the Poplin shirt to the competition: Theory, and Paul Smith. These companies price a similar type of shirt at $200, and then nearly $300. How could I ever justify spending more than what I can get with a Quince budget?
For last kicks, Quince helps compare the cost of the Cotton Twill dress shirt to Ralph Lauren ($450) and J.Crew (somewhere I would’ve shopped in another life, pre-Quince) ($128). I can get three Quince shirts for the price of one J.Crew one, and I think they’re virtually identical.
In conclusion, I’d give a big head-nod “yes:” the men’s button-down shirts from Quince fit me perfectly and keep my wallet happy.
How to shop Quince men’s clothing
The easiest way to shop Quince’s collection for men is to use the Quince website’s Men’s products home page. From there, you can sort everything in men’s by price, and I suggest sorting the products from “Low to High,” for kicks, where you’ll see the most competitively-priced item at only $19.90.
To save even more and get a bang for your buck, I recommend checking out the Men’s Bundle & Save page, where you can get any three items from the categories of Cashmere, Linen, Activewear, Socks or Outerwear and get some store credit for a future purchase. If you get any four products in a bundle, you’ll get even more online store credit for next time.
